Seasonal Notes
The Forest Service Road that provides access is snow covered all
winter until approximately late May.
Camping Notes
There is a flat, sizeable campsite just
a bit further past Pine Burl as
well as another further up the main trail before you depart up the
creek to Moondipper. There are also many primitive and official
camping opportunities near the forest road.Briefings

Not much new to report here, no trash is always good though, but the
soak - too hot!

Weak spring runoff due to low winter snowpack in the mountains means
that Moondipper's soaking window is a bit smaller this year.
Meaning, it's already over. The cold creek water that is desperately
needed to bring down the temps of the hot waters of Moondipper was
already too low. Although, a couple siphon hoses might do the trick.

The brisk 2 mile, early morning hike-in was filled with beautiful
views of the crisp forest waking up to the sun. The trail was in
pretty good condition save for a couple un-marked intersections;
which you'll soon enough figure lead to the low-water trail which
means many river fords. So my advice: stay high. Moondipper had much
less silt than when I was here last, probably due to summer usage -
last time I was one of the first spring visitors. Not bad for a soak
all in all - but why not wander less than a quarter mile further up
a faint path to Pine Burl;
which is a much nicer soak.

Moondipper was hot to trot, and turned out to be a nice soak along the way to
Pine Burl, which in my opinion is somewhat better. We past Boiling Springs on the way, but the FS cabin was rented and quite busy by the looks of it.
