Lava Hot Springs Inn & Spa sits in downtown Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, with 6 outdoor special use pools ranging in temperature from 94 to 107 degrees F, plus a 44 degree cold plunge pool, lodging and a full hot buffet breakfast each morning. The outdoor mineral hot springs are open to both the public and overnight guests.
The main Inn was completed in 1924 by the federal government as a sanitarium for war veterans. Wounded men would come to Lava on the train and enter the sanitarium for treatment of superficial wounds such as burns and shrapnel. The Inn later became the hospital for Lava and then a ‘rest home’.
The current owners purchased the Inn in 1988 and have since built 6 outdoor natural mineral hot water pools and have 12 rooms (out of 30) with indoor jetted tubs supplied with natural mountain spring water. The Lava Hot Springs Inn is unique in Lava because they are the only facility with natural mineral hot water special use pools for guests. The Inn also provides a full buffet hot meal breakfast each morning for overnight visitors.

The Inn facilities include three hotel buildings, vacation rental house and cottage, 6 outdoor pools, note 12 hotel rooms have hot spring fed jetted tubs, meeting room, Aquatic Bodywork Watsu plus Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone and reflexology massages — a complimentary hot springs pass is included with a massage.

Take your pick from the hotels, bed and breakfast vacation rental or cottage. All lodging comes complete with access to the outdoor mineral hot springs and full buffet breakfast.
Hours and Day Use
The pools are open daily from 7:00am to 11:00pm (from 6:00am for hotel guests). Public soaking passes are $15 for adults, children and seniors, and $2 for infants under 2; day users may come and go during operating hours with their wristband.
