Phifer Warm Spring

Phifer Warm Spring — also known as Weatherby Mill — is one of the Atlanta area’s oddities: an 86°F warm spring with no soaking pool at all. Instead, the water is piped into a stand-up shower stall and an old bathtub, making this a rinse-off stop rather than a soak — best enjoyed on a hot summer day, when the lukewarm water is a feature instead of a bug.

The Setup

No pool: a wood-walled shower stall (three sides) and a bathtub, fed by the spring. The water is clear with no odor noticed. Come in hunting season and you may share the area with a crowd of hunters and ORVs; most of the year it sees moderate use.

Seasonal Notes

The best access road has a seasonal Forest Service closure; year-round access is available via the Middle Fork Boise River Road off Highway 21.

Camping

Plenty of National Forest campsites and camping areas are available nearby, with campsites all around the spring itself.
