Roystone Hot Springs is a reservation-only hot springs, RV park, and event center in Sweet, Idaho โ€” halfway between Emmett and Horseshoe Bend and about 45 minutes from almost anywhere in the Treasure Valley. Unlike a public plunge, every soak at Roystone is private: when a group reserves the pool or the hot tub, the water belongs to that group alone.

Roystone Hot Springs Facilities

Main Pool

The natural hot springs pool runs 93 degrees in the summer to a steamy 98 degrees in winter. Roystone operates by reservation, so the entire 50-foot pool is private for each group. Features include a waterfall massage, water basketball, a vaulted covering and privacy fence, and poolside dressing rooms.

Hot Tub

The naturally heated, jetted hot tub seats up to 12 people and is kept at about 104 degrees. After-dark sessions can use the outdoor movie projector, and the tub has a private patio and large heated dressing rooms with showers. The hot tub can be reserved separately or together with the pool, party room, grounds, or event center.

The grounds include a basketball/pickleball court, volleyball, a hot springs splash pad, a fully equipped sports closet, lighted shelters, fire pits, and a Dutch oven cook area, and host reunions, group campouts, parties, and weddings. The heated, air-conditioned party room rents by the hour or day, with tables, chairs, couches, and a big-screen TV, plus a patio adjacent to the hot tub.

Event Center

The Spring House Event Center suits large groups, with a double kitchen, banquet room, TV room, and a private lawn beyond the covered porch with a firepit and bench seating.

RV Park

Each of the 10 RV sites includes full hookups, a fire pit, a picnic table, and a large section of turf. RV guests have private showers, a laundry, a playground, and a walking path.

History of Roystone

Throughout its many owners, Roystone Hot Springs has shown its versatility. The fertile land around the mineral springs was farmed using the warm water for irrigation, and the vegetables, muskmelons, and orchard were known throughout the Boise Basin. Later, locals diverted the many springs into one cemented catch basin and built the same swimming pool still used at Roystone today โ€” a photograph from 1909 shows long-skirted women standing next to the pool with laundry barrels and a loaded clothesline. Roy Stone purchased the springs hoping the healing waters would improve his poor health; he died before making the move from Portland, and his widow Eva named the springs in his honor and built a sanitarium open to all who wished to use the mineral waters. After two fires and several more owners, the neglected springs were purchased by the Johns Family in the early 1980s, whose remodeling and reconstruction of the pool, main house, and grounds made Roystone what it is today.
