The Springs Resort in Idaho City

The Springs Resort, near Idaho City, Idaho, offers a range of options for soaking and rejuvenation. Nestled in the Boise National Forest on 80 acres of woodland, the resort centers on a 40′ x 80′ geothermal pool, with a 16′ hot tub kept at about 104° for some extra heat and a steam room for a higher level of relaxation.

Idaho City Hot Springs Facilities

In winter, the walkways stay free of ice and snow: geothermal water is pumped throughout the facility, including the changing rooms, to keep floors warm. The main lobby features a cozy fireplace, and winter months also feature a bonfire at the edge of the pools, allowing warm-up time between soaks while still outdoors. Intimate lighting follows the footpaths and buildings for easy navigation, and makes a good setting for stargazing from the pools.

In the summer months, the splash deck’s 16 jets of cold water are extremely invigorating after a hot soak. The cafe serves wraps, sandwiches, and soups, all made from scratch, and craft beers on tap and fine wines are served poolside.

The Springs Resort provides professional massage services, including deep tissue table massage in the heated massage yurt, and live music is offered during the summer. The surrounding Idaho City area invites exploration — snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or sledding downhill at nearby Steamboat Gulch in winter.

Dating back to the late 1800s, The Springs is steeped in history. Once known as Warm Springs Resort, and discovered by early settlers, it has served as a post office, police station, saloon and overnight stage stop for weary travelers.
